— Chatham County deputies have charged a 15-year-old with shooting at cars north of Pittsboro, authorities said Friday.

Three vehicles were shot at Monday evening on U.S. Highway 15/501 near Hamlet’s Chapel Church Road, authorities said. A tip led them to a nearby home, where they took the unidentified teen into custody and seized a pellet gun.

Damage to the vehicles included holes in the side panels and broken windows.

    Felony ...... greywolf30

Don't be so shady. When I went to Campbell University in Buies Creek, we used to throw old boards with nails out in the highway in front of the dorms and wait and see what happened while we sipped on Sloe Gin Fizzes. Youth are wild and always will be.

I love how the posters here cannot assign blame to the person who did it. It has to be the fault of the parents or the evil gun. This is the very reason why our country in in decline, no one will accept or assign blame or responsibility, particularly the media.

First offense? Turn him over to his parents and make him pay for each and every repair. If he has no job, let him find one and turn over his paychecks to the court. Hit him where it hurts, his wallet. If he's been in trouble with the law before, then in addition to paying for repairs, give him extra community service.

678devilish-- It is not illegal in this state for a 15 year old to have access to a PELLET gun. In fact most NC counties do not consider it a dangerous weapon under the law. They may be able to go after the parents for damages but that is about it. All this sounds like is a mean spirited kid causing trouble which he should be held accountable for.

Our legislators will soon pass a bill allowing him to do so if he pleases. The rights of gunowners must be protected!!

Kids do dumb things... let's hope he has learned his lesson... if it happens again, then harsh punishment should be considered. Teenage brains... we've all been there.

ABSOLUTELY charge him with some serious crimes. His actions could well have caused a wreck with fatalities......Charges should be very serious so that he, and any others thinking it would be 'fun' to do, KNOW that they will be seriously punished. CONSEQUENCES.

It was a pellet gun. It can hurt you. What dangerous about the home environment I was hunting by my self with a 22 or 12 gauge at 11-12 years old. I had bb.pellets guns since about 8 years old. We were terror on the birds, glass bottles and beer cans.
