Chapel Hill police are investigating a report over the weekend of a sexual assault on a University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill student.

<b>CHAPEL HILL, N.C.</b> — Chapel Hill police are investigating a report over the weekend of a sexual assault on a University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill student.

Chapel Hill Police Lt. Kevin Gunter said Monday that the attack happened in the early hours of Saturday morning at a home near the campus.

A detailed description of the attacker, described only as being a white, college-aged male, wasn't available.

A spokeswoman for UNC-Chapel Hill said students, faculty and staff were notified of the assault in an email over the weekend through the university's emergency information system, Alert Carolina.

Anyone with information about the attack is asked to contact Chapel Hill-Carrboro-UNC Crime Stoppers at 919-942-7515 or to call 911.
