PITTSBORO, N.C. — A Chapel Hill man will spend life in prison after pleading guilty Thursday to first-degree murder in the death of a Siler City woman.

Prosecutors say Brian Keith Whitfield, 24, killed his girlfriend, 38-year-old Daphne Forster, last year. She was last seen leaving her job at Carolina Brewery in Pittsboro on Oct. 9, and her partially burned body was found covered in plastic the next day along Chicken Bridge Road in northern Chatham County.

Caleb Shaddie Wyland, 25, also faces first-degree murder charges in Forster's death. His case is pending.
