Chapel Hill man charged in federal drug probe

A federal grand jury has indicted a Chapel Hill man as part of an investigation into drug distribution in Orange and Chatham counties.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — A federal grand jury has indicted a Chapel Hill man as part of an investigation into drug distribution in Orange and Chatham counties.

Ashuntee Derod Baker, 26, of 3350 Farrington Pointe Road, was arrested Wednesday on four counts of distributing crack cocaine and one count of possession of cocaine with the intent to sell.

The sale of drugs in Chapel Hill, Carrboro and Chatham County is being investigated by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency, U.S. Marshalls Service, State Bureau of Investigation, Chatham County Sheriff's Office and Chapel Hill and Carrboro police departments.

According to state Department of Correction records, Baker has convictions for selling drugs in Orange and Chatham counties dating to 2001.
