Chapel Hill man charged in dagger attack

Posted June 19, 2011

— A Chapel Hill man is accused of attacking a Morrisville man with a metal throwing dagger on Saturday, according to arrest warrants.

Cameron Sora Lee, 24, of 853 Martin Luther King Blvd. in Chapel Hill, faces charges of assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, communicating threats, injury to personal property and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Lee attacked Randall Fox with the dagger, broke his cell phone in half and shouted at him "Stop the truck, or I will kill you," the warrants state.

Lee, who also goes by Dustin Tyler Lee Sipes, was placed in the Wake County jail under a $29,000 secured bond. His first court appearance was set for Monday.

"I'm scared to go to Chapel Hill." - it has gotten worse in the last several years. We have always gotten a lot of out of town crime (Durham mostly) but lately we seem to have more than our share of homegrown losers causing mayhem. This one seems to fit in the crazy category which can occur anywhere folks congregate. The Hill attracts all types!

Throwing knives are a bad idea. Even if you hit the other guy with it, unless you are deadly accurate then the guy you threw the knife at has the knife, and boy is he p*ssed!

Anyone else wonder why Mr. Lee was trying to stop the truck?

My first thought was that the other guy (who was in the truck) did something to Mr. Lee and Mr. Lee tried to stop him. With all the hit-and-run, red light runners, female-assaulters and other scary people out there...I could see myself trying to stop someone by all means necessary.

That said, Mr. Lee could have instigated this...but who knows.
