CARY, N.C. — A Cary High School student struck by a car Wednesday has been released from the hospital.

Heather Bowden, 16, was walking away from the school at a pedestrian crosswalk near the intersection of Walnut Street and Maynard Road when she was struck by a blue Dodge Neon, authorities said.

The driver of the car, Allison Monce, 24, has not been charged with a crime.

Bowden was taken to WakeMed as a precaution, Cary police said.

Sgt. Greg Savage with the Cary police said the crosswalk is relatively new to the area of campus and was put in place as a result of other accidents there.
