CARY, N.C. — A fork lift that hit a gas line in Cary prompted the evacuation of a small Cary grocery store late Monday morning.

The town said the gas line break happened near Patel Brothers in the 800 block of East Chatham Street.

A handful of people had to leave the Indian grocery store as a precaution while crews worked to repair the break.

Although the northbound lane of nearby Southeast Maynard Road was down to one lane, there were no reports of traffic troubles in the area.

The leak was capped around 12:30 p.m.
