Cary police seek man who robbed pizza deliveryman

Posted January 28, 2009

— Police on Wednesday asked for public help in finding the man who robbed a pizza delivery driver 13 months ago.

A driver for Amante Gourmet Pizza was delivering a pizza to 741 Braniff Drive at 10:45 p.m. on Dec. 6, 2007, when a man attacked him, striking him in the head with an unidentified weapon, police said. The robber stole the driver's cell phone and an undisclosed amount of cash.

The robber is described as a white man, 5 feet 9 inches tall and 165 pounds. Witnesses said the robber, who was dressed in all black, ran towards Chevis Drive and got into the driver’s side of a silver or gray Mercedes.

“We are asking anyone with any information related to this crime to contact us right away,” Sgt. Randy Byrd of the Cary Police Department said in a statement.

Anyone with information about the case is asked to call Crime Stoppers at 919-226-2746 or the Cary Police Department Watch Commander at 919-469-4016.
