Cary church hosts Stop Hunger Now event
Members of the Kirk of Kildaire Presbyterian Church held a Stop Hunger Now event Saturday to refill food banks after supplies have been sent to those affected by Typhoon Haiyan in the Philippines.

More than 300 volunteers packed, rice, soy and dehydrated vegetables in bags for the Raleigh-based nonprofit organization.
The goal Saturday was to package a total of 100,000 meals. The group said each meal only costs 25 cents.
"We are so lucky to have what we have here," said volunteer Whitney Bell. "I am really incredibly grateful."
The event was sponsored by the Cary Rotary Club.
Stop Hunger Now is an international hunger relief organization that coordinates the distribution of food and other life-saving aid around the world.
In total, the organization plans to send 1 million meals to the Philippines, along with water filters and other supplies.
The founder of Stop Hunger Now, Reverend Ray Buchanan, traveled to the Philippines to coordinate and oversee the effort.
