Carthage men charged with beating neighbor

Two Carthage men face charges that they dragged their neighbor from a house in the Carolina Lakes subdivision and beat him.

CARTHAGE, N.C. — Two Carthage men face charges that they dragged their neighbor from a house in the Carolina Lakes subdivision and beat him.

Moore County Sheriff Lane Carter said that two men forced Billy Joe Brown, 51, out of his friend's house at 385 Heron Road Thursday and dragged him to outside their house at 397 Heron Road. They continuously assaulted Brown, and he suffered serious injuries on his head, face and back, the sheriff said.

Brown, also of Heron Road, was taken to Moore Regional Hospital in Pinehurst.

Juan Sanchez, 29, and Augustine Sanchez, 33, were charged Friday with first-degree kidnapping and assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury.

Juan Sanchez was given a $105,000 secured bond, and Augustine Sanchez a $100,000 secured bond. Both were scheduled to appear in court May 17.
