CARTHAGE, N.C. — The son of a Carthage councilman was shot Monday, Police Chief Chris McKenzie said.

Jason Dowdy, the son of Milton T. Dowdy, suffered three wounds to his lower body, McKenzie said. He was recovering at First Health Moore Regional hospital.

Jason Dowdy was at home, at 153 Jermason Drive, with his girlfriend at the time of the attack, McKenzie said. She was not hurt.

Police were interviewing both of them Monday afternoon as part of the shooting investigation.

McKenzie said police were looking for two suspects, but did not offer a detailed description.
