The Russians spent 10 years in Afghanistan getting beat, now we doing the same thing, this is another NAM, if you get the politics out of it we will win this one.

Sympathies to the family of this brave volunteer and hero. As a member of a family with a long history of military service, I share the mixture of pride and grief.

As a member of a family with a long history of military service, I cannot help but notice that the notice of the sacrifices of our military have moved off the headlines and front page since the presidency changed hands. Body bag counts used to be the media's sick obsession - to undermine the prior administration. "The deadliest day...week or month" constantly.

August was the deadliest month EVER in Afghanistan - yet nary a peep. Why? Are the sacrifices less important now? Or are you trying to prop up rather than tear down a Commander in Chief?
