ConAgra plant re-opens after fatal blast
GARNER, N.C. — This weekend will be the last for least 300 employees of ConAgra Foods in Garner.

The company is cutting the work force as a result of a fatal explosion earlier this year.

The June 9 explosion at the facility caused part of the building's roof to collapse, killing three workers and sending dozens of others to the hospital.

It reduced the plant's production capacity by about 50 percent, Dave Jackson with ConAgra said in September when the layoffs were announced.

Investigators believe contractors installing a water heater vented natural gas inside the building, leading to the blast.
