Customers who volunteer for the "EnergyWise" program would allow Progress to control their thermostat during periods of peak eletricity demand.
In return, they would get a $25 credit on their bill.
Progress pitched the program to N.C. Utilities Commission Tuesday as part of an effort to control demand during the summer months.
