State’s Unemployment Rate Dips to 4.8 Percent

RALEIGH, N.C. — North Carolina’s unemployment rate dipped slightly to 4.8 percent in October even as the number of people working dipped by 9,475 workers.

A decrease in the state’s workforce by 12,887 helped offset the drop in workers, according to the North Carolina Employment Security Commission.

The state jobless rate was 4.9 percent in September.

Over the past year the state has added more than 33,000 jobs,

County and metropolitan area jobless rates will be released Nov. 28.
