FORT BRAGG, N.C. — A Fort Bragg paratrooper had a heart attack during physical training Thursday and died on post, authorities said Friday.

Sgt. First Class Tarmall F. Rossin, 35, a member of the Special Troops Battalion, 82nd Sustainment Brigade, had completed a morning run when he suffered a heart attack and collapsed, authorities said. Soldiers in Rossin's unit immediately called 911 when they found no pulse, and they administered CPR until paramedics arrived, authorities said.

Rossin was taken to Womack Army Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead.

A native of Lake City, Fla., he joined the Army in June 1990 and arrived at Fort Bragg in June 2006. He worked as the plans and operations non-commissioned-officer-in-charge and served as the senior track-vehicle repair specialist.
