RALEIGH, N.C. — A Wake County judge on Wednesday raised the bond for a man accused last year of threatening their children who attend Jones Dairy Elementary in Wake Forest.

After hearing the threats Kochetkov is accused of making to school children, Wake County Superior Court Judge Vince Rozier made it more difficult for him to get out of jail by adding an additional $250,000 to his existing bond, meaning the total bond on all his charges he is accused of now stands at nearly $1 million.

Parents from Jones Dairy Elementary were in the courtroom.

Prosecutors said in court that Kochtekov, who lives next door to the Wake Forest school, threatened their children.

Assistant District Attorney Katy Polmeroy said Kochetkov made threats on social media that included posts like, "I am probably going to go shoot up the local neighborhood kids" and "I am going to amass an army big enough to slaughter all your Wake Forest kids in their local playground."

According to investigators, he also posted pictures of guns.

While looking into the threats, Polmeroy said investigators found child pornography on Kochtekov's cell phone, including one child in an image who appeared to be around 5 years old.

Kochtekov's mother told WRAL News that her son suffers from PTSD after he spent time in the U.S. Army.

Prosecutors say he has received mental counseling treatment in jail, and the judge ruled he is now capable to stand trial.

Polmeroy told the court: "He continues to be a threat to the community."

Judge Rozier stipulated that if Kochetkov is able to post bond, he will be subject to electronic monitoring, house arrest and can not go near a school.

Parents in the courtroom appeared happy with the judge's decision, but they declined comment.
