Boil-Water Order Lifted in Fayetteville
Aqua North Carolina Inc. on Tuesday lifted a precautionary boil advisory for about 5,900 customers in the Cliffdale West and Turnbridge water systems, off of Cliffdale and Raeford roads in western Cumberland County.
Posted — UpdatedThe advisory was put in place on Saturday because of a loss of water pressure in the system that occurred when some wells in the system failed to turn on automatically. Aqua staff began manually putting the wells into service and was able to restore pressure by Saturday night.
But because pressure was not maintained throughout the system for several hours, the state Department of Environment and Natural Resources required the company to collect bacteriological samples from the system to confirm the absence of coliform bacteria before lifting the boil order.
The results for the samples confirmed the absence of coliform bacteria, company officials said in a statement.
