Black bear spotted near Fayetteville campground

Cumberland County Animal Services received a report Thursday from a camper at the Lazy Acres Campground near the Fayetteville Regional Airport.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — Cumberland County authorities said Friday that a black bear was spotted at a Fayetteville campground on Thursday.

Cumberland County Animal Services received a report from a camper at the Lazy Acres Campground near the Fayetteville Regional Airport.

An animal control officer saw the bear in the same area later in the day.

The public should be cautious in the area and report any sightings to Animal Services at 910-321-6852 between 8 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. during the weekdays or call 910-321-1500 during the weekend.

In May, there were reports of a black bear near Hope Mills Middle School. Animal control said it isn't sure if it’s the same bear.
