I hope they find out the truth as well. The guy that was hit was my best friend and we grew up together. When I heard about this, I was devastated to say the least. We always used to ride along the road and weren't stupid enough to veer into the road without looking first.

Suprisingly, I'm not angry with the person that hit him, but I don't want his death to go unnoticed or my friend here flagged as another "unaware" bike rider. I knew him better than anybody, and he wasn't one to play rushing roulette with his life.

So if you're the type of person that doesn't pay attention while driving, let this be an example of what can happen. This could have very well been a freak accident, but something doesn't seem right about that assumption.

Were there witnesses? How do we know the driver didn't veer onto the shoulder, hit the cyclist, and then declare to the trooper the biker did the veering?

I am a biker. There are many arrogant drivers out there who seem to get pleasure from how close they can buzz a cyclist without hitting him/her. How do we know this driver didn't just get too close?

There are also the drivers who are oblivious to the rest of the world around them...especially those who are texting and/or using a cell phone.

I hope further investigation reveals the truth.
