Beach House, Site of Fatal Fire, Torn Down
The beach house where seven South Carolina college students died in October is gone.
Posted — UpdatedOCEAN ISLE BEACH, N.C. — The beach house where seven South Carolina college students died last month is gone.
Crews recently tore down what was left of the structure in Ocean Isle Beach.
Investigators said smoking materials may have started the fire on the back deck of the home.
Officials said the smoke alarms did work, but seven students – Cassidy Fae Pendley, 18; Lauren Astrid Kristiana Mahon, 18; Justin Michael Anderson, 19; Travis Lane Cale, 19; Allison Walden, 18; William Rhea, 18; and Emily Lauren Yelton, 18, – died in the fire.
