The accident occurred shortly after noon. The bridge was shut down for a short time to boaters, but vehicle traffic was not impacted.
No injuries were reported.
According to the United States Coast Guard, the accident was likely a combination of wind, current and operator error.
According to reports, the actual bridge did not sustain any damage but a wooden fender was broken. Boaters in the area were being advised to use caution with potential debris in the water.
