Friday is now a WRAL Weather Alert Day. Parts of Hoke, Cumberland and Sampson counties are under a level 2 risk for storms Friday afternoon and evening. The biggest threat will be damaging winds and heavy rain, but an isolated tornado can’t be ruled out in our southern counties. The storms are expected to impact these areas from 3 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Raleigh police charged a babysitter with child neglect after a 6-year-old boy went missing Sunday.

<b>RALEIGH, N.C.</b> — Raleigh police charged a babysitter with child neglect after a 6-year-old boy went missing Sunday.

The babysitter told police the child was playing outside when he wandered off from 1532 Sunbow Falls Lane.

Police searched the apartment complex off Falls of Neuse Road for nearly an hour before finding the child playing with a friend at a nearby unit.
