Autopsy can't determine how Durham man was killed
State authorities cannot determine how a Durham man whose charred remains were found at an Asheboro home two years ago was killed, according to an autopsy report released Tuesday.

John Russell Morris, 31, was last seen on May 25, 2012, at a Durham Bulls game, and authorities found fragments of his skeleton and burnt vehicle parts two weeks later at the Randolph County home shared by his ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend.
Jessica Dawson Summey, 23, and Shaun Michael Lundy, 26, have been charged with murder.
Medical examiners studied scores of bone fragments to identify the remains as those of Morris and determined that the cause of death was "undetermined homicidal violence."
"Due to fragmentation and charring, the exact cause of death cannot be delineated," the autopsy report states. "However, the condition of the remains would be consistent with the reported history of multiple types of inflicted trauma during an assault, with subsequent burning of the remains."
