N.C. — A 3-year-old girl who was found dead in the bathtub inside her Raleigh apartment last spring did not drown, according to an autopsy released Wednesday.

The medical examiner found no fluid in the stomach or sinuses of Skye McLeod, indicating that she most likely did not drown.

Her death was ruled undetermined, although the medical examiner said in the report that the girl most likely suffered a natural death, such as heart arrhythmia or a seizure, that cannot be diagnosed through autopsy.

Skye was found unresponsive on March 20 after she and her younger sibling were briefly left alone in the bathtub at their home in Raleigh Gardens Apartment of Saint Giles Street.

A family friend said the mother’s boyfriend was babysitting at the time, and police released a 911 call made by an unidentified male caller who frantically asked for help because the girl was not breathing.
