Authorities: Double homicide near Fayetteville not random

"She was going to be waiting for them," said Piccola Miller. "She knew whoever was coming to get the TVs and what-not, and she was going to kill them, going to shoot them."

The body of Miller's sister, Yolanda George, 57, was found late Wednesday morning behind a home on Matt Hair Road, about 15 miles southeast of Fayetteville.

Authorities later that day found George's son, 35-year-old Jamal Skinner, dead inside the home they shared at 5442 Matt Hair Road.

Cumberland County sheriff's investigators haven't commented on a possible motive for the shootings but said they were not random acts.

A sheriff's spokeswoman would not confirm Miller's statements to WRAL News.

Miller said she last talked to George around 4 p.m. Tuesday when George went to her home wanting to hide her truck there because she planned to wait for the robbers' return.

Miller said neither she nor her sister contacted authorities about the reported break-in.

"I figured she knew what she was doing," Miller said.

Neighbors said they heard gunshots Tuesday night, and one neighbor reportedly found George's body partially clothed behind a mobile home next door to where she lived. The man who lived at the house said it appeared she tried to seek help and collapsed in his yard.

Skinner was found after deputies obtained a search warrant to enter her home.

Their bodies were sent to the North Carolina Office of the Chief Medical Examiner in Raleigh for autopsies.

Neighbors said both were shot, but authorities have also declined to say how the pair was killed.

Miller said George was an Army veteran and a minister at a local church. Skinner, she said, was a Navy veteran and was attending school to become a chef.
