Authorities are investigating a Sunday night shooting off Tramway Road in the Brooke Haven Community in Lee County that sent two people to the hospital.

Authorities are investigating a Sunday night shooting off Tramway Road in the Brooke Haven Community in Lee County that sent two people to the hospital.

Three men approached the residence at 2741 Pine Acres Drive and demanded money from three other men who were outside the residence, authorities said. Two of the men outside the home were shot, and the third was beaten, authorities said.

One of the assailants ran into the residence armed with a rifle and demanded money from the women and small children inside, authorities said. The three assailants ran off after hearing sirens.

One of the shooting victims was airlifted to UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill, while the other was taken to Central Carolina Hospital in Sanford for treatment. There was no word Monday on their conditions.
