PITTSBORO, N.C. — Three local law enforcement agencies helped nab a suspect last week after Durham police intercepted a FedEx package containing marijuana.

Maj. Gary Blakenship, spokesman for the Chatham County Sheriff's Office, said Wednesday that the package had two pounds of high-quality marjiuana and had been sent from California to 47 Chester St. in Pittsboro.

A Chapel Hill police officer posed as a FedEx delivery person and staged a controlled buy of the package, Blakenship said. Chatham County narcotics officers then searched the house and made an arrest.

Michael Deangelo Cheek, 28, was charged with felony possession with intent to sell and distribute marijuana, felony possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

He was placed in the Chatham County jail under a $7,500 secured bond.
