DURHAM, N.C. — Durham County sheriff's investigators are looking for the person who left a biohazard bag on a Triangle Transit Authority bus Friday morning in Research Triangle Park.

When authorities arrived at the scene at T.W. Alexander  Drive and South Miami Boulevard, they found the bag was filled with water, Lt. Stan Harris, of the Durham County Sheriff's Office, said.

Harris said deputies believe the bag was left on the bus as a hoax.

Emergency responders and law enforcement answered the call at about 7 Friday morning and treated the scene as a potential biohazard, Harris said. That included diverting traffic from the area and interviewing witnesses. Some people on the bus initially told police they did not feel well, a spokesman said.
