Authorities capture Wake County inmate who escaped from work assignment

A Wake County inmate who escaped from work assignment on Monday was captured, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

RALEIGH, N.C. — A Wake County inmate who escaped from work assignment on Monday was captured Tuesday, according to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol.

Larry J. Locklear, 66, is a minimum custody inmate serving a sentence at Wake Correctional Center as a habitual felon. His projected release date was October 2021.

Locklear was found near mile marker 85 on Interstate 95 in Johnston County.
