Attempted murder charge filed after man shot trying to drive into Fayetteville home

A Laurinburg man was arrested Friday in connection with the shooting last month of someone trying to drive Jeep into a Fayetteville home, police said.

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — A Laurinburg man was arrested Friday in connection with the shooting last month of someone trying to drive Jeep into a Fayetteville home, police said.

Police said Herbert Wiesner was shot on Aug. 21 as he threatened to drive into a home in the 7000 block of Ryan Street after a verbal altercation with a resident of the home.

Wiesner was initially listed in critical condition at Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, but his current condition is unknown.

Quentin McKeith Stith, 29, of Sandy Grove Road, has been charged with attempted first-degree murder, assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury, discharging a weapon into occupied property and possession of a firearm by a felon. He was being held in the Cumberland County jail under a $245,000 bond.
