Arrest made in Fayetteville attempted kidnapping
Police were searching early Friday for a man who is wanted in an attempted kidnapping that happened Thursday morning in a subdivision in west Fayetteville.

According to Fayetteville police investigators, a 17-year-old girl said a man tried to grab her as she walked along McFadyen Drive at about 11:30 a.m.
The man approached the girl, asked where she was going and then got out of his vehicle – a turquoise or teal Mazda with tinted windows – and tried to grab her arm. The girl was able to free herself and run to her home and call 911.
"Somebody just tried to put my daughter in a car with them," the victim's mother told 911 dispatchers. "They just tried to abduct my daughter down the street."
Fayetteville police officers patrolling in the Devonwood subdivision Friday afternoon saw a vehicle on McFadyen Drive that matched the suspect vehicle description and stopped the driver. Jim Don Carter, 35, of 406 Andros Drive, was taken into custody and charged with attempted second-degree kidnapping. He was being held in the Cumberland County Detention Center on a $25,000 bond.
The incident had neighbors concerned.
"This is usually a quiet neighborhood, and that's very close to home for me," neighbor Shauna McCollum said.
