DURHAM, N.C. — Two Durham men face charges of attempted first-degree burglary and felony conspiracy.

Officers said an attempted home break-in occurred around 6 a.m. Friday on Regency Drive.

The residents were sleeping when someone rang the doorbell several times. When one of the residents got up to investigate, he saw two men attempting to break into the house.

The two men removed a window but fled before officers arrived. Officers found two men matching the suspects’ description lying inside a gray Mazda 626 parked nearby.

Gabriel Deshon Melton, 18, and Larry Tyree Jackson, 20, both of Lyle Court, were arrested.

Melton and Jackson were being held Friday under $250,000 bonds in the Durham County jail.
