ATF offers reward in string of armed robberies

The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives announced a reward Friday of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for three armed robberies in Chapel Hill and Durham.

CHAPEL HILL, N.C. — The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives announced a reward Friday of up to $5,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the person or persons responsible for three armed robberies in Chapel Hill and Durham.

On Dec. 23, 2017, at 3:57 a.m., four men entered a Circle K convenience store, at 11399 Highway 15-501 North, in Chapel Hill, and conducted an armed robbery. A short time later, at 4:48 a.m., two men entered a Circle K convenience store, at 201 South Estes Drive, in Chapel Hill, and conducted a second armed robbery. At 5:38 a.m., three men entered a Circle K convenience store, located at 3406 East U. S. Highway 70, in Durham, and conducted a third armed robbery.

All three robberies have been connected to the same men and are being investigated by the ATF, the Chatham County Sheriff’s Office, the Chapel Hill Police Department, and the Durham County Sheriff’s Office.
