ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. — Police said Thursday that they have arrested a man in connection with a 2009 homicide in Rocky Mount.

Kenneth Marshall Joyner, 34, of Rocky Mount, was charged Wednesday with first-degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon. He was being held without bond in the Edgecombe County jail.

Henry Boney Jr., 40, was shot during a robbery outside his Bedford Road home on Aug. 21, 2009, and died three days later, police said. During the robbery, Boney was able to return fire and wounded his killer, police said.

Joyner sought treatment for a gunshot wound shortly after the incident, police said, and investigators were eventually able to link him to the crime.
