GARNER, N.C. — Police arrested a Raleigh man Friday in connection with a March 5 hit-and-run that seriously injured a bicyclist in Garner.

A vehicle struck Alejandro Lopez Ramos from behind as he was riding a bicycle on the shoulder of the northbound lane of the 200 block of Weston Road.

Police were searching for a burgundy 2000 to 2004 Buick Century or Regal in the hit-and-run, and Garner police officer Preston Charles spotted a 2002 Buick Regal on Friday that had front-end damage.

Accident reconstruction experts with the Garner Police Department used debris collected from the crash to make a positive match with the car Charles saw, police said.

Bryant Devon Leach, 26 of 757 Lunar Drive, was charged with felony hit and run.
