WILSON, N.C. — Two 82nd Airborne Division paratroopers killed in a wreck on Interstate 95 over the weekend were identified Tuesday.

Pvt. Robert O. Holcomb, 22, of Conroe, Texas, and Pvt. Cornell Newsome, Jr., 19, of Graham, Wash., died early Sunday when their Jeep flipped on I-95 near the Wilson-Nash county line and they were ejected, authorities said.

The Jeep went off the right side of the highway, and the driver overcorrected, causing the vehicle to flip several times, authorities said.

Three other soldiers were injured in the wreck, but their names and conditions haven't been released.

Holcomb and Newsome were infantrymen with 2nd Battalion, 505th Parachute Infantry Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team.

The accident remains under investigation by the state Highway Patrol.
