APEX, N.C. — Apex police arrested a man Tuesday after his neighbors reported that Freon in their air-conditioning units was being stolen by a group of teenagers who inhaled it to get high.

Lanious Hume, 18, of 2008 Jerimouth Drive, was charged with five counts of larceny. He was given a $2,400 secured bond and scheduled to appear in court Thursday afternoon.

Police said four teens siphoned the chemical refrigerant into plastic bags at 2010 and 2005 Jerimouth Drive in the Crockett's Ridge subdivision Sunday.

It wasn't clear whether more people will be charged.
