Apex library lines up events for teens

Eva Perry Regional Library lines up a video contest, an anti-Valentine's Day Party, a work project and more for teens.

Eva Perry Regional Library in Apex sent out a release the other day about all of its upcoming events for teens. So let this serve as a great reminder that many of the libraries in our region, not just Eva Perry, offer some great programs for tweens and teens, including book clubs, anime clubs, volunteer opportunities and more.

So here's what's happening at Eva Perry, but if you live elsewhere, be sure to check your local library. (We have a handy resource page with links).

7 p.m. to 8 p.m., Jan. 24: Teen Video Contest Project (Grades 6-10). Help us create a project to help the library. We need writers, actors, and creative ideas. Volunteer credit can be earned. Walk-ins welcome.
7 p.m. to 8 p.m., Jan. 31: Valentines for Vets Drop-In Craft (Grades 6-10). Write cards for American military veterans and earn volunteer credit at the same time. Create 5 handmade cards to earn 2 hours of volunteer credit. Walk-ins welcome.
7 p.m. to 8 p.m., Feb. 7: Teen Planning Meeting (Grades 6-10). Help us plan our Winter Party to be held Feb. 14. Volunteer credit can be earned. Walk-ins welcome.
7 p.m. to 8 p.m., Feb. 14: Teen Anti-Valentine’s Day Party (Grades 6-10). You don’t have to be part of a couple to celebrate this day. Make broken heart cookies and enjoy being with your friends. We will have games, music, and a short movie.
7 p.m. to 8 p.m., Feb. 21: Teen Work Project (Grades 6-10). Contribute to your local library by helping with special projects alongside others volunteers. Activities vary. Volunteer credit can be earned. Walk-ins welcome.
7 p.m. to 8 p.m., Feb. 28: Puppet Show Project (Grades 6-10). Help us create a puppet show for the library’s annual Puppet Palooza. We need writers, actors, and creative ideas. Volunteer credit can be earned. Walk-ins welcome.
7 p.m. to 8 p.m., March 7: Leadership Seminar (Grades 6-10). What does it take to really stand out? What skills are important to becoming a leader amongst your peers? Hear from guest speakers who brought their interests out of the classroom and into the real world.
7 p.m. to 8 p.m., March 14. Pi Day (Grades 6-10). March 14 is Pi Day. We will celebrate by eating pie and playing math games. Bring your favorite kind of pie to share. Walk-ins welcome.
7 p.m. to 8 p.m., March 21. Teen Work Project (Grades 6-10). Contribute to your local library by helping with special projects alongside others volunteers. Activities vary. Volunteer credit can be earned. Walk-ins welcome.
7 p.m. to 8 p.m., March 28: Winter Finale and Gaming Celebration (Grades 6-10). Celebrate the end of winter and the beginning of spring by joining us at a gaming event. Walks-ins welcome.
