CUMBERLAND, N.C. — Animal expert weighs Monday night on ongoing investigation into possible mistreatment of seven horses removed from Cumberland County farm.
Seven horses were removed from a property Monday morning after a video surfaced showing the alleged abuse.

Kristin Yde has trained, ridden, and raised horses for 20-plus years.

She said that the video she saw was disturbing and that it is clear that horses should not be handled in that way.

"That's not how you train a horse in any capacity," Yde said. "There's never a reason to go to such methods."

Yde spoke to WRAL about the viral video of a horse being pulled, dragged, and hosed at Witts End Quarter Horses in Fayetteville.

"It was just heartbreaking to watch that," Yde said.

Yde said that the owners of those horses are not only not breaking them in correctly, but they are also creating lasting damage and not helping the horses.

"It's terrible! I mean, it's a baby! They don't know any better." Yde said. "They're looking to you to lay that foundation there and to show them a correct start in life."

WRAL has reached out to Witts End Quarter Horses about this story.

No one reached out has commented about the horses being removed but someone with the company told us earlier in part:

"I have no reason to speak our side of the story to you guys."
"We have nothing to hide and the truth will come to light and make everyone online look like idiots."

Yde and many others are pleased that Cumberland County Animal Services and the Sheriff's Office are investigating the matter.

"What's done is done, but it should not have been and hopefully it will never again," Yde said.

The investigation is ongoing and a veterinarian's findings will be considered in determining whether charges should be filed.
