Angler Catches Mudhole, No Fish

A Durham man was resting at home Tuesday after getting stuck in mud up to his chest at Falls Lake for hours, authorities said.

Donald Meeks, 68, was bow fishing at Falls Lake on Monday morning. When he didn't return home, authorities began searching for him. Highway Patrol troopers using infrared scanners in a helicopter located him late Monday.

Authorities had to build a wooden bridge to reach Meeks, and they then spent two hours digging him out of the mud.

Meeks was checked out by paramedics and sent home.
