Amanda Hayes to be extradited to Texas to face more charges in Laura Ackerson's death

Amanda Hayes, who was convicted in 2014 of second-degree murder in the death of Laura Ackerson, signed an extradition waiver Friday and will be sent to Texas to face more charges in the case.

RALEIGH, N.C. — Amanda Hayes, who was convicted in 2014 of second-degree murder in the death of Laura Ackerson, signed an extradition waiver Friday and will be sent to Texas to face more charges in the case.

Grant Ruffin Hayes, Amanda Hayes' ex-husband, was convicted of first-degree murder in 2013 in Ackerson's death.

Ackerson was last seen alive in Raleigh on July 13, 2011, and her dismembered remains were found 11 days later in a creek outside of Houston, Texas.

Hayes will face charges in Texas for the disposal of Ackerson's body.
