Agents raid building near Hope Mills one day after double fatal shooting
State Alcohol Law Enforcement agents raided a building Monday where two people were killed and five others were injured in a shooting Sunday.
Posted — UpdatedAuthorities said the owner, Donnie Cross, was operating an illegal nightclub behind his home at 1914 Gumberry Court near Hope Mills. He was cited for illegally selling alcohol in what is known as a shot house or liquor house.
“The danger here with the illegal nightclub is the violence that takes place at them – people being shot, stabbed, sexual assaults that take place at these locations,” said ALE agent Jason Locklear.
Tanishia Graham, 32, and Izaak Bridges, 21, were killed in the shooting at the makeshift club shortly before 2 a.m. Sunday. Names of the five people who were injured were not released.
Graham’s mother says her daughter was there with the father of one of her children when the shots rang out.
“They got up. They went running towards the door, and he didn’t see her behind him,” said Linda Reed. “He went back and she was (on the floor), and he picked her up and took her to the hospital.”
Reed says this is the third child she has lost to violent gunfire. The family is pleading with the public to help find the person who killed Bridges and Graham.
