RALEIGH, N.C. — About 40 residents were without power Sunday morning after a car struck a light pole near the intersection of Rowan Street and Compton Road, according to Raleigh police. The impact of the crash caused the pole to snap, resulting in a transformer falling onto the vehicle.

Roads near the intersection were closed because of fallen power lines. Power was restored within a few hours.
