RALEIGH, N.C. — Sunday's dry, warmer air is a welcome break from Saturday, where temperatures did not surpass the upper 30s.
Partly sunny skies with breezy, cool air and a high of 50 degrees is expected for Sunday afternoon.

There was an outside chance of snow flurries around Fayetteville Sunday morning but the warm air kept snow from reaching the ground. Viewers reported sprinkles around Raeford and sleet in Fayetteville and Southern Pines.

“But later on this week we drop off the cliff and have some really cold air return to the region," WRAL meteorologist Mike Moss said.

Sunday evening will be clear with possible fog and a low of 29 degrees. Monday will be sunny with a high of 58 degrees.

But temperatures will not exceed the mid-40s for the rest of the week. Highs are expected to reach 41 on Tuesday, 31 on Wednesday, 40 on Thursday and 35 on Friday.
