FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. — It turned out that a report of a person with a gun at the Fayetteville Goodyear plant Tuesday night was not a prank.

An employee thought they saw someone with a gun at the plant at about 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, authorities said. Cumberland County deputies were notified two hours later because plant security searched for the gunman first.

After deputies were notified, the plant was evacuated while they searched the building.

Authorities told WRAL that the call was a prank, but then provided correct information that it was not.

No gunman or weapon were found Tuesday evening.
