CARY, N.C. — A witness who discovered a man dead in his car at a Cary shopping center Saturday described a disturbing scene to 911 call-takers.

Police have not said how 72-year-old Luciano Mariano Andia died, but a recording of the emergency call released Sunday indicates that he was shot.

"Somebody shot this man out here in this car," the caller said. "There's another vehicle sitting beside it with holes shot clean out the windows."

The caller, whose identity was not released, said it took a moment to realize the man in the car was not alive.

Andia was found at the High House Crossing shopping center on N.C. Highway 55. His death is Cary's first homicide of the year.

Andia's body has been sent to the state medical examiner's office for an autopsy.

Anyone with information on the crime is asked to call Cary police at 919-469-4012 or file a report anonymously with Cary Crime Stoppers at 919-460-4636. Crime Stoppers pays up to $2,500 for information leading to an arrest.
