RALEIGH, N.C. — A handful of Triangle-area Noodles & Company locations were among the chain's restaurants affected in a widespread data breach, the company said in a news release.

The company on June 2 detected suspicious activity on its computer systems that indicated a potential compromise of customers' debit and credit card information. Customers who made purchases between January 31 and June 2 could have been affected.

Computer systems at 16 Noodles & Company locations in North Carolina were exposed to the malware. Triangle-area locations included:

» 2608 Erwin Road, Durham

» 214 W. Franklin St., Chapel Hill

» Cameron Village, 403 Daniels St., Raleigh

» 200 Crossroads Blvd., Cary

» Brier Creek, 8411 Brier Creek Pkwy., Raleigh

» Park West Village, 2016 Market Center Dr., Morrisville

» Parkside Town Commons, 1120 Parkside Main St., Cary

» 1055 Beaver Creek Commons Dr., Apex

The company said the malware involved in the breach has been removed.

"Noodles & Company encourages guests who believe they may be affected by this incident to take additional action to further protect against possible identity theft or other financial loss," the company said in a statement.
