— A 70-year-old Coats man has been charged with trafficking opium after Harnett County deputies found drugs during a search of his home, authorities said Friday.

Johnnie Lee Judd, of 1551 Clayhole Road, also was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of a Schedule II controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was being held in the Harnett County jail under a $150,000 bond.

Narcotics officers searched Judd's home on Feb. 11 and found 55 doses of prescription medicines containing codeine and one gram of cocaine, said Maj. Jeff Huber of the Harnett County Sheriff's Office.

This is kind of sad; the drugs probably weren't his, but he probably was getting a kick-back for letting them be in his home. But he probably doesn't get enough SSI to live off of. So..there you have it. Starve or survive!! Medicine or death!!!
Lights on or live in the dark!! Water to bathe or wait until it rains (as one judge put it)!!
These are the things that the elderly have before them.
Why can't we take better care of our elderly; they took care of us when we couldn't and had nothing.
We must do right by our wiser and elder peoples. Yes, peoples!!

@ unc1995; Instead of WRAL wasting time reporting a story like this and then leaving it alone they should be investigating how magistrates come up with these ridiculous bonds which are inconsistent from one defendant to another AND how some magistrates have no clue about the law!

Goes to prove that everybody is struggling! Walmart only has but so many jobs for a man his age.

Ok, can we say WASTE OF TIME, WASTE OF MONEY all together please?? Absolutely ridiculous!! And they have this old geezer under a $150,000 bond!! I've heard of cases where a person has been charge with manslaughter and their bond was nowhere near this much. When we stop this madness. This man should been given a citation, had the stuff taken away, and fined. End of story! Until they find drug dealers putting guns to folk heads and making them use drugs (adults) I will be against the foolish drug policies that are on the books in this country.

Wow, yes, what he did was illegal, but I do not think that 55 doses of medicine and a gram of cocaine warrant jailing a 70 year old man.

This guy is clearly flying it in from South America. LOL I don't know whats more incredible. The fact that WRAL thinks this is news worthy or that this guy likely will do jail time for the small amount of drugs he was holding.
