— A Raleigh man was arrested Tuesday after his 5-year-old son was found wandering across a busy road in the middle of the night.

Teodros Made Debela, 27, of 7002-A Longstreet Drive, faces one count of misdemeanor child abuse.

An arrest warrant says Debela left the boy at home alone and that the child left home looking for his parents.

The warrant did not provide any other information.

It's truly a shame that anyone can be a parent without any qualifications at all. You should have to pass a test or something. What if there was a fire?

That is one more bad area of Six Forks for a child to be wandering out on. Of course, NO road is safe for a child to wander on, that's why they have adults that are suppose to be supervising them at all times. There's no "time outs" for parenting, unless you have another responsible adult to take charge when you can't.

I wonder if he left the house "just for a minute" thinking the boy was asleep so he should be okay. Don't get me wrong, by no means am I defending him. I have actually had this debate before with some people that thought it would be okay to run to the store when the kids are asleep. Even if the kid didn't wake up, that could be the very time when someone decides to break in, or the house catches on fire, or a drunk driver plows into you at stoplight a block from your house. I'm just glad the little boy wasn't hurt.

What type of gang activity? I lived in that area right around the corner off of Sawmill Rd. for all of my life up until the end of last year and never heard of a single gang incident.

i have never heard of it in this area either. but whenever there is a minority involved in a crime of any kind, people say gang related area or they are in a gang. shrugs shoulders

wow!It a miracle this child was found safe. Longstreet is off Six Forks and comes out in the middle of an incline and in a not well-lit area. There is also some occasional gang activity in this area. Thank heavens this little boy is ok.
